Q: The kitchen of our new house has a built in booth-type eating area. The previous owners had a table custom made for the area.

However, we plan on completely renovating the kitchen in the near future. Any resources for affordable rectangular pedestal tables for the time being?

Editor: Kristine, this is a topic near and dear to my own heart right now, as I am finishing up a mini-remodel of a breakfast nook in my own house. We actually ripped out an old pedestal table (it was covered in hideous Formica) and we are replacing it with this piece from IKEA:

Depending on the dimensions of your nook you might be able to do something similar if you can work up a leg for it to stand on. (Try a piece of lumber, painted and finished.)

You could also look for a folding picnic table, and cover it with a pretty tablecloth until you renovate the kitchen.

Readers, any other tips for Kristine?
