If you’ve been having trouble getting your kids (or yourself) to eat more fruit, there might be a new solution for you. Breeders in California have developed a green grape that tastes exactly like cotton candy.

These grapes aren’t just a marketing gimmick; instead the grower is trying to rediscover the original flavors of many of the grape varieties sold in grocery stores. Commercial production has stripped out a lot of the taste over the years, so this is actually an attempt to bring it back. Cotton candy grapes look the same as regular green grapes, but they taste much sweeter.

We’ll be interested to try them if they become available in our grocery stores, and see what other familiar flavors they end up with.
