Halo Top has already conquered the grocery store to become the single best-selling pint of ice cream in the U.S., ahead of both Ben & Jerry's and Haagen-Dazs. Now everyone's favorite low-calorie, low-sugar, high-protein, slightly healthier-than-normal ice cream is moving out of the ice cream aisle and opening its first physical scoop shop. As if that wasn't big enough news, the company is also introducing its first soft-serve ice cream.

Halo Top is famous for being a healthier frozen dessert that still tastes mostly like ice cream. It contains between 240 and 360 calories per pint, while many conventional varieties of ice cream have that many calories in a half-cup serving. The new Halo Top soft-serve has around 90 calories per 4-ounce serving, and it will be available in flavors like birthday cake, peanut butter cup, and pistachio, as well as classic vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry.
There will also be a huge topping bar with things like fruit, marshmallow sauce, mango, mochi, and shredded coconut to put on top of the soft serve.
The first physical Halo Top store opens next week in the second-floor dining area of the Westfield Topanga Mall in Los Angeles. In addition to scoops and soft-serve, it will be selling ice cream sandwiches made of Halo Top and two high-protein vegan cookies, and Halo Top tacos made with waffle cones pressed into the shape of hard taco shells.
On Wednesday, November 15, the new Westfield Topanga Mall location will be throwing a grand-opening celebration. They'll be giving out free ice cream from 10 a.m. to closing. The words "free ice cream" always summon huge crowds, so anyone in Los Angeles who wants their free scoop should probably plan on showing up early.
This is just the first physical Halo Top store, and it won't be the last. The company is already planning a Halo Top flagship store at Westfield Century City Mall in Los Angeles, where it will be near a Shake Shack and an Eataly outpost. That store is expected to open in 2018, and with the way Halo Top has been taking over the ice cream world, it seems likely that we'll see a lot more of them opening up in the near future.
