Häagen-Dazs Has Alcohol-Infused Ice Cream, but There’s a Catch
In the last couple years, alcohol has been infused into just about every food imaginable (besides broccoli, probably). One of the most popular ways to get tipsy and eat, however, is probably with ice cream. Boutique establishments sell booze-infused ice cream for times when you need to cool down and get a little tipsy too, and there are also a ton of recipes out there for you to make your own boozy concoctions (thanks, Pinterest).
If you have yet to try this trendy combination, you’re in luck. There is about to be alcohol-infused ice cream at a frozen foods aisle near you, depending on where you live.
Häagen-Dazs is getting in on the liquor-infused ice cream action with a new line of treats: Häagen-Dazs Spirits. There’s actually alcohol in them — none of the extract or flavor business — but you won’t get too wasted off of a scoop or a pint since the ABV is less than one percent.
The line comes in five flavors: Rum Vanilla Caramel Blondie, Whiskey Chocolate Truffle, Irish Cream Coffee & Biscotti, Vodka Key Lime Pie, and Rum Ginger Cookie. The only caveat, for U.S. consumers, is the line is currently exclusively available in Canada.
It’s not all bad news. While the company (hopefully) considers bringing it Stateside, you can always place an order at Tipsy Scoop or visit their brick-and-mortar store in New York City. You can also take a stab at a few recipes available online from boozy Popsicles to alcoholic Dippin’ Dots to affogato.
