Kombucha is one of my favorite drinks, and I usually keep a few bottles stocked in my fridge. I love its zingy effervescence and its promise of probiotics, which can improve gut health and help our immune system function properly. A win-win in my book!

While there are many kombucha brands out there, GT’s Synergy is by far my favorite. The variety of flavors is top tier. (Trilogy and Golden Pineapple are always in my rotation.) I typically buy a bottle whenever I stop by a pharmacy or stock up on multiple flavors at my local grocery store when they’re on sale.

Recently, I heard that GT’s launched a new flavor: Pomelo Pink Lemonade. It’s the brand’s first ever fan-voted flavor. As a GT’s fan (who did NOT vote), I was curious to taste what all the buzz was about. Of course, I needed to judge for myself if the fans got it right.

What You Should Know About GT’s Synergy Pomelo Pink Lemonade Raw Kombucha

GT’s Synergy has over 27 kombucha flavors, and for the first time ever, the company held a social media contest to create a new flavor chosen by fans. The company received thousands of submissions and more than 25,000 votes. The winner, Pomelo Pink Lemonade, is the brainchild of Lily from Troy, Michigan.

While the latest flavor isn’t made with what you’d typically find in lemonade (pink or otherwise), the ingredient list does include the brand’s signature kombucha, pomelo and yuzu juice, and a hint of jasmine extract. GT’s Synergy Pomelo Pink Lemonade Raw Kombucha launched on May 1 and is currently on shelves at retailers nationwide, including Walmart, Target, Sprouts, Kroger, HEB, and Publix.

My Honest Review of GT’s Synergy Pomelo Pink Lemonade Raw Kombucha

GT’s Synergy Pomelo Pink Lemonade Raw Kombucha is a beautiful peachy-coral pink color, and it looks stunning in those sleek glass bottles (when you’re done, turn the bottle into a cute vase!). Holding one in my hand just makes it feel like summer.

It has a bright, fresh, and citrusy scent that’s followed by a fermented tang from the kombucha. From my first sip, I was impressed by the layers of flavor. I get the citrusy sweet taste of the yuzu and pomelo (which is a bit sweeter and more mild compared to grapefruits), but it ends on a floral note from the jasmine. It isn’t overly sweet, which I love, and has a nice bubbly effervescence, like all other GT’s Synergy kombuchas.

The pomelo and yuzu add a citrusy note but bring more complexity than just standard lemon, like a mix between grapefruit, lemon, and orange. In comparison to pink lemonades I’ve had in the past, this is far less sweet, more bubbly of course, and brings greater depth of bright, fresh flavors. It’s like pink lemonade’s classier aunt — a bit more refined, but just as fun. It’s definitely going into my kombucha flavor rotation this summer.
