As the coronavirus continues to spread, many are stocking up on grocery supplies like canned foods, frozen veggies, and bulk grains and pasta. These basic, long-lasting groceries are important to buy right now. But there have also been a few impulse buys that are, perhaps, less than essential.

While I was grocery shopping, for example, I ended up buying 15 of my favorite pre-made lentil salads. The problem? They all expire next week. I also purchased about 30 energy drinks yesterday when I was at the grocery store — and I forgot to pick up paper towels.

Things are scary right now, but I’ve found some joy in reading about other funny things people have purchased at the store. So when I saw this recent thread on Twitter about people’s “weirdest panic purchases” I had to share. Maybe you’ll find some lighthearted humor here, too? I know I could use some more laughs right now.

Twitter user @BrandyLJensen wrote, “what was everyone’s weirdest panic purchase my brain glitched and i bought three types of jam,” to which lots of people replied.  Here are some of my favorite examples from the resulting thread.

Did you buy anything unusual for yourself? Let us know in the comments! We’d love to hear right now.
