The gift of bread is simple, nourishing, and in some cases, really really exciting. A friend recently returned from her native Northern California with a loaf of Grindstone Bakery Sprouted Seed Spelt Bread for me. Major score.

It’s made with organic whole spelt flour, purified water, organic rye starter culture, organic sprouted sesame, sunflower and pumpkin seeds, and Celtic sea salt. There’s no yeast, dairy, or GMOs. Yesterday I had a slice browned in a little olive oil and topped with avocado and sea salt. This morning I had it toasted with butter and apricot jam.

If you live in the San Francisco Bay area, you can find the bread at these stores. And for those of us without such fortune, we can order it online, here. At $31 for four loaves, it’s a little pricey, but it will make someone smile widely, and that’s worth a lot.
