Quick Facts

Who wrote it: Fred Thompson for Williams-Sonoma

Who published it: Weldon Owen

Number of recipes: 100

Other highlights: This feels like a solid intro to grilling for someone eager to get their grill on, but unsure exactly where to start. The book begins with a comprehensive look a different grill styles, how to build a charcoal fire, equipment, and different grilling techniques. Lots of pictures in this section illustrate how everything should look and feel at each stage.

The recipes span a good range, from a basic cowboy steak to things like paella and smoked duck breasts — lots to occupy an enthusiastic griller all summer! I particularly appreciate that each recipe comes with a “game plan” outlining essential steps and timing for the recipe.
