For Some Reason, My Kid Will Only Eat Chicken from This Meat Delivery Service
Before I became a parent, I swore that my future child would eat a well-balanced diet, including a wide variety of fresh meats and veggies (a topic that caused quite the stir on Twitter recently). Then along came my daughter, who would happily eat frozen chicken nuggets every single night of the week if we let her.
Trust me when I say I have tried all of the Pinterest tricks to get my 5-year-old to eat chicken in any other form, but there is no fooling her taste buds. After years of trying, I simply decided to succumb to her preferences and give up my attempts to broaden her horizons. And then, due to COVID-19, I discovered a new solution.
While doing my best to avoid grocery stores, I stumbled upon Greensbury, a national meat delivery service that would supplement my regular Instacart hauls of fresh produce and pantry staples. Greensbury caught my eye because, unlike other options, I can customize my box with USDA-certified organic options (all sourced from American farms), and I don’t have to sign up for a monthly delivery subscription. Shipping is free for orders totaling more than $150, which incentivizes buying in bulk (and making room in your freezer).
According to all the testimonials, the flavor and taste of Greensbury products are what sets them apart. Dubious that this was just hyperbole, we set out to taste it for ourselves. And we were hooked from first bite.
One evening, my husband and I were eating baked chicken thighs from Greensbury. Nothing fancy — salt, pepper, and a little olive oil drizzled on top. My daughter commented about how good the chicken smelled and requested a taste. After her first nibble, she demanded a whole piece of chicken for herself — and has come back for many more since. Not only has the service surpassed all of our expectations, but it also somehow has expanded our daughter’s horizons beyond her world of frozen nuggets.

It has been four months since we ordered our first Greensbury delivery and my daughter continues to request only their chicken. (It’s like she knows when I try to sneak her some of the regular grocery store stuff.) She has since branched out beyond the thighs to their chicken wings and chicken breast as well. I can gladly serve my daughter high-quality poultry that is not loaded with fillers or flavorings.
My favorite part of this discovery is that when referring to Greensbury, my daughter calls it “real” chicken. While it very may well be that my daughter actually likes the taste of chicken now, I like to think that Greensbury was her gateway. It might not be dinosaur-shaped, but it’s most certainly delicious — and that’s why I’m keeping Greensbury stocked in my freezer for the foreseeable future.
