Bad news Bake Off fans, we’re going to have to wait a little longer for the next season of our favorite baking show. Love, the production company behind The Great British Bakeoff, has decided to delay filming. Instead of beginning next month like they were supposed to, they are going to wait a few extra weeks (hopefully not months) until the coronavirus crisis has abated.

Understandably right now the production company is putting their contestants, hosts, and crew first. “We continue to monitor the situation and follow the advice of Public Health England,” a spokesperson for Love told Deadline. “[We] will delay filming on Bake Off until it is safe to proceed.”

This is obviously not the most pressing or important thing happening right now, but I’m still personally a little bummed, because the promise of the show felt like a bright spot amid a lot of chaos. I was especially excited to see the new co-host, comedian, and writer Matt Lucas (although the news was of course bittersweet, since we loved Sandi, too.)

In the meantime, while we eagerly wait, you can re-watch older seasons or take some time to learn the work of Matt Lucas (Hello, Doctor Who). That way you can get yourself familiarized with his style and humor, which will make watching the show even more enjoyable.
