Is there anything not to love about Chicago's own Graham Elliot? He's a James Beard Award nominee, restaurateur, and has also hosted Master Chef and the pint-sized version of the show, Master Chef Junior. Between these offerings in addition to appearing as a contestant on Top Chef Masters and a judge on many occasions on Top Chef, I feel like we've all come to know dear Grahammy. (I can call him this because I know his so well through all my incessant food TV watching, and that's probably fine. Maybe?)
Yesterday the chef posted a super-smart tip for better movie theater popcorn and I gobbled it right up. If it's good enough for Graham Elliot, it's good enough for me!
The art of sneaking in movie theater snacks is a fine one — in fact, we even covered the topic in this list of 10 commandments for smuggling food into the movie theater. Many of us have probably entered a theater with our favorite candy in our pocket in addition to something larger here or there.
Graham Elliot, however, one-upped everyone by sneaking his own seasoning into a movie theater and buying popcorn there. He's supporting his local theater and getting a better snack! Smart guy, that Graham Elliot.
According to a recent Instagram post, Graham brings in a mixture of Parmesan cheese and freshly cracked pepper to add a bit more flavor to an otherwise buttery-laden movie-theater staple.
It's a brilliant move, actually, as no theater attendant will ever stop you and ask to see what's in your pockets. And if someone does see the bag, it just looks like the tail end of a bag of trail mix. But little do they know it's Graham's choice to top his popcorn for a viewing of Star Wars Last Jedi. Delish!
