Gordon Ramsay has never been one for holding back. If he doesn’t like something, he’ll let you know in a way that often involves a lot of yelling and cursing. After all, he does have a restaurant named Hell’s Kitchen.

So it may be karma that the celebrity chef recently got a dose of his own medicine from an unlikely critic. Ramsay posted a video on Instagram in which he samples his latest creation, gives an appreciative “Mm,” then offers his mom, Helen Cosgrove, a little taste.

She dips her finger in the bowl, puts it in her mouth and, before she even says a word, her horrified face says it all. “Urgh,” she adds. “I don’t like that.”

Ramsay captioned the post, “Happy Mother’s Day Mum! You may not enjoy my toppings but I love you xxx.” His 13.5 million followers found the whole thing hilarious and had a field day with it.

“Hahaha now I understand everything,” commented one fan. “Like mother like son?” laughed another.

You can call it being blunt or you can call it a mother’s honesty. I think I’ll call it getting his just desserts.

Watch the video here, then try making a batch of his bacon jam or his wildly popular eggplant “steak.” We can assure you neither one will elicit an “Urgh.”
