Gordon Ramsay Admitted That He “Loves Vegan Food” During the First Vegan Challenge on “MasterChef”
Just when you thought your 2022 pop culture bingo card couldn’t get any wilder, Gordon Ramsay has entered the chat. In a promotional clip for tonight’s episode of MasterChef: Back To Win, he not only announces a new milestone in the history of his long-running franchise, but shares a long held secret in the process.
“It’s a secret that’s so big, I’m almost afraid to say it on national television,” Ramsay states while introducing the group of contestants to the evening’s first-time challenge. After some mock reassurance from fellow TV critic Aarón Sánchez making it clear to the contestants that the announcement is likely not too serious, Ramsay makes his grand revelation.
It turns out that the man who once proclaimed in a tweet that he is “a member of PETA! People eating tasty animals……” actually enjoys vegan food.
“It’s taken me 20 years to get to this point,” he says later in the aptly titled “Gordon Ramsay Loves Vegans” episode. “Thanks to the kids, I’ve realized it’s ok to be vegan … Sometimes!” The celebrity chef even offers the contestants, judges, and viewers a vegan take on beef Wellington made with beets, before assigning contestants the first vegan challenge in MasterChef history.
While he says he’s been harboring this deep dark secret for nearly two decades, Ramsay’s “PETA” tweet only dates back to 2018. A few months later, he shared a photo of a slice of vegan pizza from Street Pizza in London, announcing that he was “going to give this #vegan thing” a try.

MasterChef: Back to Win airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
