It’s no secret that subscription boxes can be hit or miss. Luckily, we’ve come across more than a handful of hits over the years. From the bread subscription box that quickly became a team favorite to the soup club that instantly transported yours truly to her mother’s kitchen, food subscriptions are the cream of the crop when it comes to subscription boxes. One of our more recent favorites? Good Chop.

When we put this meat delivery service to the test we were beyond impressed, as were many of you, as it quickly became a reader favorite! And boy do we have some good news: Now through September 30 you can take advantage of Good Chop’s Labor Day deal. So, what’s included? Well, alongside your regular order, you’ll receive free ribeye steaks (that’s two free 10-ounce ribeyes per box) for a year when you use the code RFY523, plus $30 off your first order! How’s that for an end-of-summer deal?

What Is Good Chop?

For those unfamiliar, let us properly introduce you to Good Chop. This meat subscription box is, well, just that: A giant box full of top-shelf cuts of meat that arrives at your doorstep each month. These aren’t just any ol’ meats, though. All of Good Chop’s meats (and seafood) come from animals that are born, raised, and harvested by domestic family farms and independent ranchers right here in the United States. Good Chop also offers a super-flexible subscription model, which means you can deactivate your plan five days before your next delivery. The boxes are also fully customizable, so you get to choose exactly which cuts of additive-free meat you get each month.

When Ian, former senior commerce editor, put this box to the test he was super impressed, sharing, “Every cut I cooked was fresh and delicious, with great color and delicious flavor. And, the variety of options meant I was cooking and eating different meats nearly every night, so I never got bored.” The service itself also received an enthusiastic two thumbs up from Ian, who wrote, “Selecting my cuts couldn’t have been more of a breeze — in fact, the only issue I ran into was deciding which cuts to leave off, because they all sound so good. Plus, having over a month’s supply of meat delivered directly to my doorstep was so hassle-free, and I don’t ever see that aspect of the service getting old. To top it all off, it was significantly cheaper than if I had gotten all of the cuts from the butcher.”

Want to put this box to the test yourself? Let’s chat pricing. You might have some sticker shock when you see that the Medium box comes with six meat and seafood selections for $119, and the Large Box comes with 12 selections for $239, but before you ask, “How is this cheaper than the butcher?” allow me to explain. Each “selection” includes multiple portions: For instance, the pack of chicken breasts includes six 6-ounce breasts, the sockeye salmon pack includes four 5-ounce fillets, and the sirloin pack includes four 5-ounce steaks — you get the picture. So, when you consider that, you’re truly getting some major bang for your buck. Throw in the bonus ribeyes plus the $30 in savings and it’s a bonafide steal. Our last piece of advice? Just make sure you make some room in your freezer, because you’re going to need it.
