My family exchanges wish lists for the holidays and although I find myself drooling over cooking utensils, gadgets, and ingredients all year long, I can never come up with some that I truly need. What's on your list?
I lean toward minimalism in the kitchen (my roommate may disagree with this, seeing that our kitchen is packed full of microplanes and specialty knives). For example, even though I'm terrible at cooking rice on the stovetop, I refuse to purchase a rice cooker. I won't justify buying anything to help me mince garlic, peel ginger, or juice a lemon. I make good use of the items I have, but it's always hard for me to come up with more that I need.
Some of my favorite food gifts have been souvenirs from memorable trips like the short, green-stemmed Riesling glasses my aunt brought back for me from Alsace, France. Thoughtful gifts are always useful gifts in my household!
What are the best food gifts you've received and what are you still yearning for this year?
