Starting July 16, and running through July 17, the iconic GE Profile Opal 2.0 nugget ice maker is on sale for its lowest price ever. Originally $679, the TikTok-famous appliance is down to just $478 — a serious savings of more than $200.

Even though the sale price of the Opal 2.0 is steep, it’s still much cheaper than the original price, and as someone who’s owned the machine for more than two years, it’s been worth every penny. 

The Opal 2.0 makes that chewy, crunchy nugget ice, also known as Sonic ice — yes, as in the fast-food joint! The ice has a bunch of little nooks and crannies that cool down drinks faster than the usual crescent-shaped ice from the ice tray or the bullet-shaped ice that you’d get from a traditional countertop ice machine. The same little nooks and crannies also allow for maximum liquid in your drink and minimal dilution, which is exactly what you deserve, heat wave or not.

There are two models of the Opal 2.0 on sale during Prime Day, but the one that offers the maximum value is the one with the XL water side tank. I have the machine with the regular-size water tank, which holds 0.75 gallon of water at full capacity. This is fine for two or three days’ worth of ice with consistent use in my household of two, so the larger 1-gallon capacity in the XL is better for those in larger households or for those who like to entertain often. It’s also an obvious choice to grab the Opal 2.0 with the XL side tank since it’s cheaper than the regular version, which is also on sale for $508. 

You can find the Opal 2.0 in a stainless steel or a black stainless steel finish. Both would look sleek and unassuming on any countertop. But you’ll have to check out quickly — we don’t see this deal lasting past the first day of Prime Day!
