We all have that one snack that we gravitate towards. You know — the first thing you grab for a road trip or movie night. Mine? Funyuns, of course.

Maybe it’s slightly controversial, but I don’t care! Sure, I love Doritos as much as the next person, but something about Funyuns’ — those salty onion-flavored rings (that are surprisingly corn-based) — keeps me coming back for more.

Now Funyuns has taken things to new flavor heights in its latest collaboration with Maruchan — the iconic instant ramen brand — to create a spicy chicken-flavored version of its onion rings that will upgrade all of your snacking escapades.

What You Should Know About Funyuns Maruchan Hot & Spicy Chicken Ramen Onion Flavored Rings

The brand has reimagined this beloved snack with its latest launch, taking its iconic onion flavored rings and coating them in a savory Maruchan Hot and Spicy Chicken Ramen seasoning. Here’s a fun tidbit — Maruchan’s instant ramen made its debut in 1953, thanks to Kazuo Mori, who was all about creating convenient, tasty meals. Fast forward to 1969, and Funyuns made their debut with its signature onion flavor.

Now, these two legendary bites have come together to spice up the snack aisle. This fusion combines Maruchan’s blend of habanero chilies, paprika, and chicken flavoring with the onion-y O-shaped snack.

The six-ounce bags hit grocery stores earlier this month (along with a few more of my new favorite releases), and are now widely available at select retailers, including Walmart and Instacart for a limited time.

My Honest Review of Funyuns Maruchan Hot & Spicy Chicken Ramen Onion Flavored Rings

I’ll kick this review off by saying that I love all things allium, which includes allium-flavored snacks like Funyuns. I also can’t forget my long-standing relationship with Maruchan’s instant ramen (and actually always favored the Hot and Spicy Chicken flavor). I used to spice up a pack of it up with a soft-boiled egg near-nightly throughout college.

So, naturally, I was really excited to try this new item. To my delight, it did not disappoint! The rings have a slight kick, but nothing that is too intense and overall really just complements the classic onion flavor.

Maruchan’s Hot & Spicy Chicken Ramen seasoning — with its mix of garlic, onion powder, chilies, and chicken flavor — blends seamlessly with the onion rings. It tastes like what it feels to watch your two favorite stars team up in a blockbuster movie.

But don’t just take my word for it — after I shared a photo of the bag in my family group chat, my 22-year-old brother raced to Walmart the next day to snag some. The next day he called me to tell me that they’re “gas,” which, reader, means they’re really great.

These onion rings are only available for a limited time, so I’m headed to the store to stock up on a few bags — and I suggest you do the same.
