Pop-Tarts Just Brought Back Its Iconic Frosted Grape Flavor and My ’90s-Loving Heart Can’t Take It

It’s no secret that Pop-Tarts have dominated the flavor game. Whether you’re more of a frosted traditional lover and always choose the strawberry flavor or more of an adventurous sort who opts for the more recent Eggo Frosted Maple flavor, the Kellogg Company-owned brand has what you need to get you through.

With over two dozen flavors in their lineup and other products set for your enjoyment, it’s hard to imagine that the brand (which finally got on the add butter train) would even dream of removing any of their beloved flavors off of the shelves. Unfortunately though, that was the heartbreaking case of the iconic Frosted Grape flavor.

Originally released as part of the inaugural frosted lineup in 1967, the Frosted Grape Pop-Tarts had become a fan-favorite over the years. But even with its popularity, the flavor has not been a consistent sight on shelves for customers who have adored the OG staple. Now, however, that is a thing of the past as the brand is assuring fans that the beloved flavor is here to stay and they’ve got a cool way to celebrate it.

If you’ve never had a Frosted Grape Pop-Tart (you are totally missing out!), it’s as good as it sounds: a white icing-frosted tart filled with grape jelly, and topped with grape crunch. And whether you’ve had one and just want to relive your most nostalgic moments or are just eager to give it a try, for the rest of this month, you can only nab an 8-count box at Walmart stores. In May, however, they’ll be rolling out to nationwide retailers and will run you about $3.19 per box.

That’s not all though. In celebration of the new return, Pop-Tarts is tugging on your memories and tapping into your ’90s database by encouraging you to “frost” your hair grape? Always wanted to get purple highlights or overflow your locks with an array of purple butterfly clips? This is your moment because the first 50 fans who share their Frosted Grape looks on Instagram using #Y2GrapeEntry will nab themselves a year’s worth of Frosted Grape Pop-Tarts!

Winners will also receive a “Y2Grape Time Capsule” that has all of the best Y2K-era items like those throwback butterfly hair clips, jelly pens, a purse, hat, and so much more.

As a true ’90s gal (and one whose favorite color is purple), I will proudly give this contest a try for us all. The way I look at it, if I don’t win with my frosted grape look, I’ll at least be able to stock up on Frosted Grape Pop-Tarts in stores until my heart is content. A true win-win if you ask me!
