Just when you thought you would be hoarding mustard, thanks to a potential upcoming shortage, along comes another option for enjoying this condiment — and it’s not what you think.

French’s Mustard is celebrating National Mustard Day (August 6) with a surprising tangy treat: the French’s Mustard Donut. Consumers nationwide can get their hands on this limited-edition snack for free this Saturday — both in-store at Brooklyn-based artisanal bakery Dough Doughnuts and nationwide online.

Created in partnership with the iconic donut shop, this mustard-flavored hole is a far cry from the condiment’s original intro in 1904 on a hot dog at St. Louis’s famous World’s Fair. But we’re not mad. The bold flavor of French’s Classic Yellow Mustard and Dough’s signature brioche recipe allows donut-devourers and mustard-lovers to come together for a reimagined classic glazed option topped with a vibrant sweet and savory mustard coating and cake crumble.

“We’ve been known to go big for National Mustard Day — with Mustard Ice Cream in 2019, Mustard Beer in 2020, and Mustard Buns in 2021. This year, we’re excited to collaborate with Dough and introduce French’s Mustard Donuts, adding our Classic Yellow Mustard to morning routines,” said Jill Pratt, chief marketing officer at French’s parent company McCormick, in a recent announcement. “The iconic tanginess of French’s Classic Yellow Mustard complements the sweet glaze and fluffy texture of the doughnut for the perfect bite.”

If you’re not local to the shop, French’s and Dough will also release a limited number of French’s Mustard Donuts for nationwide shipping on August 6 at 12 p.m. PT/3 p.m. ET, while supplies last. The best part? They’re free! Nab your own box (or two) at
