We've always loved the surprise of getting an egg with two yolks when making our morning scramble. But a whole carton of them? We're not so sure that's a good thing.
Double-yolk eggs by the dozen have been around for years, but only in parts of Pennsylvania. Now they are available in other parts of the country.
Each egg that the producers suspect to be a double-yolk is set aside and then hand-candled to be sure it really is. And it turns out they are more common than you might think with one in every 1,000 eggs containing a double.
