Folding Balcony Table: Innovation or Eyesore?

At first we were pretty excited to find this outdoor folding table. Hooked over the edge of a deck or balcony railing, it can serve as a table for two or an extra surface area, and then be folded down when not in use. Ingenious space saver, right? But the longer we looked at it, the less confident we were about how much we actually liked it.

The table might blend in over a metal railing or a white balcony, but we’re just not crazy about how it looks over natural wood (which is our balcony situation). Thoughts of beautiful moonlit dinners come to a halt when we consider those metal tubes and plastic knobs. And yet, this could be a great solution for small space dwellers who don’t have the room, desire, or option to use a standalone or wall-mounted table. This particular table measures 16 1/2 x 35 1/2 inches and can hold up to 50 pounds.

What do you think – innovation or eyesore? Do you have any other suggestions for small balcony dining?
