Your Bag of Flour Has a Not-So-Secret Feature That Everyone Is Just Finding Out About, and It’s Totally Brilliant
If you find yourself making mounds of empanada dough, cake batters, coatings for fried chicken, or any baking or cooking project, you probably often lean on flour as a main ingredient. But when you’re all finished with the pantry staple, unless you’ve invested in fancy containers, it can be difficult to store.
Recently, a clip on TikTok went viral with a creator detailing a step-by-step process on how to store flour without any additional supplies.
To properly store your flour, start by pressing any remaining air out of the bag. Then, fold it down to the level of the flour. Next, create paper plane wings on both sides and fold down the top of the bag as many times as possible before reaching the flour. Finally, secure the bag by pulling the tabs over the folds created from the sides.
Without any additional supplies or containers, you can store your flour seamlessly and keep it fresh for those moments when you need to use it to bake or cook. Social media users cannot get over how ingenious this hack is, too. One person commented on the Instagram version of the post, “This is much better than all the aesthetic-looking organizational containers.” Another person chimed in, saying, “LOVE the combination of organization and recycling!!”
In the clip, the creator shows how you can also use this method for other kitchen staples, like bags of frozen fries, chips, or sugar. Not only are you working to repurpose the packaging your food comes in, but in the long term, it’ll also help you cut down on spending money on unnecessary storage containers.
