There are tons of high-end, premium brand dishwashers (i.e., really expensive ones!) that’ll cost you $800, $900, $1000-plus dollars … easily. But what if you’re looking for a budget model? You could get a used one off Craigslist, but if you want a new dishwasher, that doesn’t cost a ton, you do have options. And we’re here here to help you out!

While there is a good bit that separates an expensive dishwasher from a cheap one, as long as you’re willing to sacrifice some features, you should be able to find a dishwasher you’re happy with.

Note: At $500 or less, most of the major high-end brands will be out of this price range, but, not all. Here are the four budget-friendly models you should know about.

The 4 Best Budget-Friendly Dishwashers Under $500

These are all standard 24″ dishwashers, and we pulled them after looking at Consumer Reports, Reviewed, Wirecutter, and various other sites where reviewers discuss appliances. These brands seemed to have good word of mouth reports, consumer reviews, and ratings.

1. IKEA LAGAN Dishwasher

Consumer Reports rated this model one of the best dishwashers under $500. They said it “earns top marks for drying and energy efficiency” (although it lacks Energy Star certification) and that it did a “very good job at washing.” Note: It is noisier and does have a longer cycle time (160 minutes) — however, at less than $250, can you really complain?

2. Hisense HUI6220XCUS Dishwasher

This dishwasher is Reviewed’s top pick under $500. They say the “no-frills machine offers exemplary performance at a budget-friendly price.” It cleans well, has a 15-minute quick clean cycle, and is Energy Star certified. They do note that its controls aren’t super intuitive and that its cutlery basket “attracts food redeposit,” but these seem like minor problems for an otherwise solid dishwasher.

3. Whirlpool WDF130PAHW Dishwasher

Another top pick from Consumer Reports, this dishwasher is about “basic as a dishwasher gets,” they say. However, it washes well, dries well, and isn’t too noisy. It isn’t Energy Star certified, but it is very well-priced, as far as dishwashers go!

4. Bosch 100 Series Dishwasher

Okay, okay. This isn’t under $500! But, if you can spend the extra $100, this does offer a pretty huge step up. Wirecutter says “any Bosch model that fits your budget” is a “solid choice.” And we agree! This model is one of Bosch’s least expensive options and is Energy Star certified, has six wash cycles, and has a stainless steel exterior. It also has super positive customer reviews, most of which are five stars!
