Our January Pick for Cookbook Club Is “Falastin” by Sami Tamimi and Tara Wigley
We’re a little more than two weeks out from the end of a very, very long year. While a lot of things were hard and scary, I found some sense of comfort cooking along with you all for Cookbook Club in 2020. With that said, I hope you’ve been enjoying the final book of the year, Mexico in My Kitchen, by Mely Martínez! I’ve been loving all your photos in our Facebook group — keep ’em coming. We still have a couple more recipes to post from her cookbook, and an interview at the end of this week.
Now, to kick off 2021! I’m thrilled to announced that Falastin by Sami Tamimi and Tara Wigley is our cookbook pick for January. Read on to see why we chose this book, and how you can participate next month.

Why Falastin Is Our Cookbook Pick for January
I knew I wanted to feature Falastin for Cookbook Club after I saw Amelia, Kitchn’s studio food editor, post about the book on Instagram. All the dishes just looked so creative and vegetable-heavy and just the kind of things I want to eat most of the time. Amelia also went on to recommend this cookbook as the best cookbook to give for the holidays, and said that “It was the first time in a long time that I became absolutely obsessed with a book.” If I wasn’t sold already, this really pushed it over the edge.

Falastin came out in June this year, and is authored by Sami Tamimi and Tara Wigley. Sami is an executive chef of the Ottolenghi restaurant group, and he also co-authored Jerusalem and Ottoenghi: The Cookbook. Tara is a long-time Ottolenghi recipe writer. Together, they developed 120 recipes that really feel like a love letter to Palestine. The cookbook is full of great stories, and recipes for every kind of eater and season.
