Do you remember the fodder that went around Twitter a few years ago? The one about how being an adult means having a favorite burner? It was funny because it was true, and people from all around the globe started tweeting about their go-to burners. One more thing about being an adult? Getting excited about cleaning products.

Even if you hate to clean (actually, especially if you hate to clean), you probably still get excited about a new tool or solution that’s bound to make your life easier. So, in our constant quest to find the most exciting cleaning products out there, we checked in with a few professional housekeepers for their must-have list of cleaning supplies they are most excited about.

Here’s what they had to suggest.

1. Williams Sonoma Pop-Up Sponges

Proper storage of cleaning gear is essential for every professional housekeeper in order to maintain an optimal level of organization. That’s why Alicia Sokolowski, co-CEO of AspenClean, uses Williams Sonoma’s pop-up sponges for all kinds of cleaning jobs. These thin sponges, made from all-natural cellulose, expand to their full size when immersed in water. “They’re compressed to a thin rectangle for easy storage, and it’s a big plus that they’re made of all-natural material,” says Sokolowski.

2. The Pink Stuff

Nowadays, people who clean religiously keep up with all of the latest hacks and trends. Just ask professional Jennifer Rodriguez, chief hygiene officer at ProHousekeepers, who has taken notes on which methods and products will be used in the new year — including, yes, a sworn “miracle paste” from the United Kingdom. “We recently tried The Pink Stuff cleaning paste that went viral on TikTok,” says Rodriguez. “It’s actually pretty good, and we plan on using it for more of our jobs this year.”

3. Reliable Pronto Plus 300CS

If you’re looking to cut back on the harsh chemicals you use in your home, Nick Burks, founder and CEO of cleaning company Neet Home, says there are other options that are just as effective. Burks says the Reliable Pronto Plus 2-in-1 steam cleaner is not only multi-functional for hard-to-reach places, but also comes with several accessories (such as brush heads and extension tubes) to easily deodorize, disinfect, and freshen up your home. “Although you’d be okay with any well-reviewed steam cleaner, this is the one we’re deploying to our cleaners,” says Burks. “Steam sanitizes home surfaces as well as any disinfectant, but without the need for any chemicals or hours of scrubbing.”

4. CleanBoss Multi-Surface Disinfectant and Cleaner

James King, operations manager at cleaning company DeluxeMaid, recommends the award-winning CleanBoss Multi-surface Disinfectant & Cleaner. Its patented formula features Thymol, a plant-based essential oil found in thyme that is said to kill bacteria and viruses on nonporous surfaces. “We’re excited to use this cleaner in the new year because it seems really versatile and is approved for use against COVID-19, which is great for our customers and cleaners,” King says.

5. Dawn Platinum Powerwash

Private housekeeper Josefina Marquez swears by Dawn’s newest product, which simply instructs to spray, wipe, and rinse to keep dishes sparkling clean. Without any soaking or hard scrubbing required, Dawn Platinum Powerwash (which many Kitchn writers and editors swear by) is also a proven winner when it comes to heavily soiled pots and pans. “The first time I tried it for myself, I was [sold],” says Marquez. “I started asking my clients if I could use it to wash dishes instead of whatever they were using, and they all switched to this spray!”
