Savory breakfast pastries are about the classiest and most grown-up thing to make for a big brunch or breakfast gathering. These ham and cheese pinwheels feel fancy, but they’re quick and easy to make with only five ingredients. And one of those ingredients is everything bagel seasoning! Score.

To make the pinwheels, take some thawed puff pastry and roll it out on a lightly floured surface. Brush Dijon mustard over the puff pastry. Make sure to leave a small border around all the sides. Then arrange slices of ham on top of the mustard, and sprinkle grated cheddar cheese on top of the ham. Roll the puff pastry into a long tube or a log, and wrap the whole thing in plastic wrap and refrigerate. It’s important to let the puff pastry chill in the refrigerator for a bit. If the dough gets too warm it will be very difficult to slice, and it won’t puff up as nicely in the oven.

When the puff pastries are cold, cut them into one-inch slices. Arrange them on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper and bake them for about 15 minutes, or until the puff pastry is flaky, golden, and puffed up, and you can see that the cheese is melted.

As soon as the pinwheels come out of the oven, sprinkle them all generously with the everything bagel seasoning. It will stick better if you apply it when the pinwheels are still hot. You can eat them when they’re cold, warm, room temperature, or a bit hot. Just let them cool just enough so that they don’t burn your mouth when you bite into them. If you’re planning to make these for a party, you can make them in advance and store them in the refrigerator.
