You guys. I just finished testing so many egg gizmos and gadgets that my cholesterol may never be the same. I didn’t realize there were so many egg-related tools targeting the TV-watching set! I tried an electric device that makes omelets on sticks for some reason, silicone egg cups that hard-boil eggs without their shells, a special stand with an accordion-like pump that’s supposed to easily shell hard-boiled eggs, and more. I have pretty strong opinions about every single item.

Most of my thoughts hovered somewhere around why, oh why. But there were a few gadgets that I actually really liked. Are they absolutely essential when it comes to making eggs at home? Probably not. Are they fun and possibly useful? Yes!

These are the three slightly-wacky-yet-slightly-useful egg gadgets I tried out and was genuinely surprised by.

1. Handheld Easy Egg Cracker Separator

My first impression of the Handheld Easy Egg Cracker Separator was that it was one of the silliest things I’ve ever seen. But much to my surprise, it actually works. I just have one condition for recommending it: Toss the egg separator attachment into the trash. The separator was not only really hard to set up, it also ultimately didn’t work. But the cracker? It’s amazing. If you’re especially terrible at cracking eggs, this is the tool for you. I read a few reviews from people who’ve lost a hand or an arm and they say this gadget has changed their breakfast routine.

2. Easy Eggwich Microwave Egg Cooker

Want to quickly make an egg sandwich during a busy weekday? The Easy Eggwich Microwave Egg Cooker can help you. They say it’s nonstick, but it really isn’t, so I recommend buttering or spritzing it with cooking spray first. Crack in an egg, season it, give it a whisk, and add a few extras if desired. Then, pop on the lid and microwave the whole thing for about a minute and, there you go, it’s ready to slide out onto your toasted English muffin. I liked that it makes an “egg patty” that’s the perfect size for an English muffin and that it makes a sandwich pretty easy to eat on the go if you have to run out the door.

3. Copper Chef Egg Cooker

The Copper Chef Egg Cooker is perfect for the hard-boiled egg obsessed, or for those who love to make deviled eggs. If you have room to store it, this machine is worth it. There are two layers, so it can make up to 14 eggs. The machine’s timing was just right and the shells slipped right off when it was time to peel the eggs. It also has poached egg and omelet attachments that both work, though the poached eggs do come out looking strangely like quotation marks.
