We’re big coffee people here at Kitchn. Many of us start our work days by brewing a pot and getting right into editing, writing, or testing recipes. Which means we certainly have our favorite coffee makers. They’re the machines or gadgets we rely on day after day, cup after cup, to make great Joe, so we can start off on the right, caffeinated note.

While some of us prefer a French press and others an espresso machine, the common factor is that all of our favorite appliances and gadgets work and work well. Here are eight of the coffee makers we use every day.

1. Moccamaster by Technivorm Coffee Maker with Thermal Carafe

“My husband and I went through a bunch of drip coffee makers over the years before we finally found this one. It doesn’t have any bells or whistles, but it does make one perfect pot of coffee. The grounds basket comes out so it’s easy to load, the water reservoir is easy to fill, and the thermal carafe keeps things hot for hours. Turns out, it’s what a lot of coffee pros recommend, too.” Lisa Freedman, Lifestyle Director

2. Fellow Stagg Pour-Over Set

“We currently use this Fellow Stagg Pour-Over Set. My husband likes it because it gives a very clean cup, but it’s quicker than a Chemex.” Faith Durand, Editor-in-Chief

3. Breville Barista Express Espresso Machine

“We’ve had our Barista Express for a year now and love it. The machine is so easy to use (even for us sleep-deprived new parents) — we mostly make Americanos (hot in winter; iced right now), but when a latte craving hits I foam up some oat milk with the steamer wand!” Lauren Kodiak, Managing Editor

“I’ve written about this before — and it’s still the best money I ever spent.” Sholeen Damarwala, Commerce Editor

4. Moccamaster by Technivorm KBGV Select Coffee Maker

“I’ve had a glass carafe Moccamaster for years — and I adore it. It makes consistently excellent coffee, is super simple and straightforward to operate (just press a button to turn it on/off!), and is incredibly reliable. It’s also fast, making a full pot of coffee in about 6 minutes.” Riddley Gemperlein-Schirm, Tools Editor

5. Bodum Chambord French Press

“I use this Bodum French press every day and this espresso machine at least a few times a week (read why I love it here!).” Amelia Rampe, Studio Food Editor

6. Breville Precision Brewer

“I just got this Breville coffee maker, which I’ve had my eye on for almost a year. (Full disclosure: There was a discount involved, but it was, for sure, still a splurge!) I had a really hard time biting the bullet, but now that I’m using it, I wish I got it sooner. Morning coffee (and afternoon iced coffee!) feels like such a treat.” Kelli Foster, Food Editor

7. Espro French Press

“This Espro copper French press has been my sidekick throughout four different apartment leases, and I can’t even tell you how much money it’s saved me from spending at Starbucks. I live for the moment that I get to plunge down the fine mesh filter, which keeps out all the gritty bits (IDK why I think it’s fun, but it is!). The perfect cup of coffee really is minutes away. It also looks really pretty sitting on my countertop between uses.” Lauren Masur, Groceries Editor

8. OXO 8-Cup Coffee Maker

“I replaced my old drip coffee maker last Christmas with this one from OXO. I like that it has an insulated carafe so that every cup is as hot as the first. It also has a single-serve option, but I haven’t used it yet!” — Patty Catalano, Contributor
