Chicken is the reliable go-to protein our editors turn to night after night when they want to get dinner on the table. But just because it's an old standby doesn't mean we can't get excited about it! Here are the five recipes we're loving lately — they're all packed with flavorful ingredients and are anything but boring.

1. Lemongrass Grilled Chicken

If you're only going to make one chicken recipe this summer, these juicy thighs should be it. The thighs are marinated in a flavorful sweet-sour mixture and kissed by the char of the grill. It's perfect on bánh mì sandwiches, in rice noodle bowls, or atop green salads and slaws.

2. Hawaiian Bacon Chicken Kebabs from Cafe Delites

We posted about these kebabs on our Delicious Links column, and we haven't stopped thinking about them since. I mean, how can you go wrong with bacon, pineapple, and barbecue sauce? These would be perfect for your next backyard bash.

3. Sun-Dried Tomato Chicken Burger

This chicken burger is a fun twist on the everyday classic. Spread your bun with baba ghanoush, top the burgers with sun-dried tomatoes, and opt for goat cheese instead of cheddar and you've got something way more interesting than your standard beef patty.

4. Skillet Chicken Thighs with Creamy Tomato Sauce from Julia's Album

If you're looking for some serious comfort food, these chicken thighs are the answer. The creamy tomato sauce keeps things cozy, while the pop of fresh basil lends brightness to the dish. Serve with pasta or crusty bread for dunking.

5. 3-Ingredient Yogurt Marinated Chicken

If you have yogurt, lemon, and garlic, you have the key to the most tender, flavoful chicken. After letting the chicken breast sit for 30 minutes (and up to overnight) in the marinade, cook it on the grill or stovetop and serve it on anything from pasta to salad.
