During the roaring ’20s, glass plates were a must for tablescapes. Today, it’s more common to see ceramic or stoneware dinnerware, but a new Dollar Tree find will have you rethinking your usual place settings for a vintage-looking gem. These $1.25 clear glass dinner plates at Dollar Tree are a simple, beautiful take on a time-tested trend.

If you search “1920s glass plates” on Etsy, you’ll stumble upon an array of translucent dinnerware, ranging from classic clear to cute colors like pink, green, and blue, but the glass plate trend dates back almost 100 years earlier. When John P. Bakewell acquired a patent in 1825 for a way to mechanically press glass, items like glass plates, cups, and more became accessible and affordable.

While these $20 to over $100 vintage gems can be worth the investment, you can also get a very convincing dupe. Dollar Tree recently stocked its shelves with gorgeous, roaring ’20s-inspired clear glass dinner plates. Each dish is 10.5 inches wide and costs $1.25, so you could buy a set of four for $5 or a set of eight plates for $10.

You can lean in to the 1920s and host a Great Gatsby-themed dinner party with these plates, but since they’re translucent, they can fit into almost any table scheme

Dollar Tree also sells a variety of charging plates that you can place under these glass dinner plates to make them stand out. If you’re hosting a holiday-themed shindig this year, grab the discount store’s Silver Snowflake Charger Plates for $1.25 each, or if you want to create a luxe feel, you can snag the Gold Honeycomb Charger Plates
