Thanksgiving is a delicious holiday full of fun and gratitude, but the days and weeks leading up to it can be rather stressful. We’re menu planning and shopping and fine-tuning recipes, and it’s inevitable there’ll be a flurry of day-of odds and ends to pick up. Dollar General may not be the first store we think of for last-minute holiday shopping, but it’s actually a great spot to consider. If it happens to be the nearest store open on Thanksgiving, it’s a spot to find toiletries, paper goods, and also groceries! But what are Dollar General’s Thanksgiving hours? Can we expect to find them open on Turkey Day?

What Are Dollar General’s Thanksgiving Hours?

Dollar General is traditionally open on Thanksgiving Day, and will often have extended store hours. In 2022, that included an extended schedule of operation on Thanksgiving, with hours from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. They then resumed their regular hours on Black Friday. Reddit threads about Dollar General hours showed this to be the trend at most locations nationwide.

However, individual location’s hours may vary, and if there are staff shortages on a holiday, it’s more likely that the location will have to close or modify hours. It’s always best to check ahead and call the store by using the store locator on the Dollar General website.

As Dollar General is known for having both Thanksgiving and Black Friday sales most years, it’d be a good idea to keep on eye on their social media for last-minute deals and promotions to take advantage of while doing that eleventh-hour shopping.

Dollar General has always been a one-stop shop to get great deals and discounts on so many of our household needs, but it was exciting news when they recently expanded their grocery selection to include more fresh food, perishable items, and produce — exactly what we’re hoping to find available come Thanksgiving day when we’re doing our final dinner preparation.
