If you’re in charge of hosting Thanksgiving dinner — or even volunteering to make the homemade baked mac and cheese (why is a block of Gouda so expensive?) — then you know ingredients can get pricey. Having to bear the load of curating a meal and digging a hole into your bank account becomes stressful and, in turn, may take away from the joy of the day. Your main priority should be spending quality time with loved ones, and to help you get there Dollar General just announced a deal that’ll help you save some coins.

Beginning October 20, 2024, and continuing through November 28, 2024, Dollar General is offering a major “buy two, get one free” deal. The company confirmed with USA Today that you’ll be able to save on three major Thanksgiving dishes: pumpkin pie, green bean casserole, and sweet potato casserole.

Here’s exactly how you can save big on holiday ingredients this year.

  • Pumpkin Pie Bundle: If you purchase a six-pack of Keebler mini pie crust and a 12-ounce container of Eagle Brand evaporated milk, you can snag a free 15-ounce can of Clover Valley pumpkin purée.
  • Green Bean Casserole Bundle: If you buy a 10-and-a-half-ounce can of Campbell’s cream of mushroom soup and a 2.8-ounce container of French’s fried onions, you can take home a free 14-and-a-half-ounce can of Clover Valley green beans and in turn save big on your aunt’s casserole recipe.
  • Sweet Potato Casserole Bundle: If you take on the torch of making a side dish, you may want to head over to Dollar General to buy a 29-ounce can of Bruce’s yams and a two-pound bag of Clover Valley brown sugar. That way, you can get a free 10-ounce bag of Kraft mini marshmallows.

It turns out you can save a few dollars with the deals. A can of pumpkin purée from Dollar General costs $1.50, a can of green beans is $0.67, and a bag of marshmallows is $1.75. This leftover cash can be used to buy a pack of decorative plates, cups, or napkins to add a festive touch to the big spread.

The popular discount store is pulling out all of the stops to help you save this holiday season. “Dollar General has an expanded seasonal assortment of holiday pantry staples, and weekly deals including cash-back offers and digital coupons, like our weekly $5 off $25 coupon,” the company said in an email sent to USA Today. That way, you can focus on what really matters, like finally mastering your uncle’s sweet potato casserole recipe or catching up with your favorite cousin as you dig into pieces of homemade pumpkin pie.
