Scott and Kristan, owners of LA’s vintage style store Hammer and Spear, have a knack for smart DIY solutions. Their personal style, self-defined as “a mix of styles, periods and materials, bound together by a neutral color palette,” defines their Downtown Arts District, Los Angeles loft, but it’s the kitchen — with its DIY copper shelving — that really stands out.

As the couple tells Apartment Therapy in this recent House Tour, all the copper shelving in their home (they also have some in the bathroom) was made by them with off-the-shelf parts they bought from Home Depot. It suits the aesthetic of the kitchen, too, with its vintage-industrial feel and emphasis on white, wood, and black.

We’re fans of the look!
