These Baked Apple Desserts Are So Easy to Make

We take our baked apples seriously and decided to transform this lazy, weeknight dessert into something extraordinary. Taking a cue from our favorite desserts, we used hollowed-out apples to hold an array of tasty fillings.

With just a few ingredients in each filling, you can recreate your favorite desserts by stuffing your apples with the different mixtures and baking them to make the perfect seasonal treat.

Baked Apples, 5 Ways

The five flavors include:

  • Cheesecake
  • Pumpkin pie
  • Peanut butter mousse with Greek yogurt and honey
  • Savory apple and cheddar pie
  • Pecan pie

Basic Instructions

These are all prepared the same way. Opt for tart, crisp apples, such as Jonagold, Fuji, or Honeycrisp. Once your filling is stuffed inside, the baking time and technique pretty much stay the same.

Bake at 350°F for about 25 minutes or until the apples are tender.

Cheesecake Baked Apples

1 (8-ounce) package softened cream cheese + 1 teaspoon vanilla extract + 1 egg + 1/4 cup sugar + sliced almonds.

Whisk all of the ingredients together (except for the almonds) and fill apples. Bake 25 minutes at 350°F, then top with sliced almonds. Serve the apples warm or chilled. Makes four apples.

Pumpkin Pie Baked Apples

1 cup pumpkin purée + 1/4 cup softened butter + 1/4 cup maple syrup + 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice + graham cracker crumbs.

Combine the pumpkin purée, softened butter, maple syrup, and spice. Fill the apples. Bake 25 minutes at 350°F. Top with the graham cracker crumbs before serving. Makes four apples.

Peanut Butter Mousse Pie Baked Apples

Equal parts peanut butter and Greek yogurt, plus a touch of honey.

Whisk all of the ingredients together and fill your apples and bake at 350°F for about 25 minutes. Drizzle with extra honey before serving.

Apple Cheddar Pie Baked Apples

1/4 cup melted butter + 4 teaspoons brown sugar + 2 teaspoons cinnamon + 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese.

Chop the apples removed from coring the apples and toss with the butter, cinnamon, and sugar. Fill apples. Bake at 350°F for 15 minutes. Remove from the oven and top with cheese and broil until the cheese is bubbly and melted. Makes four apples.

Pecan Pie Baked Apples

1 cup pecans + 1/4 cup butter + 1/4 cup brown sugar + 2 teaspoon cinnamon + 1 teaspoon vanilla extract + 2 eggs.

In a small saucepan heat the butter and sugar until melted. Add the pecans, cinnamon, and vanilla extract and stir to coat. Remove from heat. Once the mixture cools a bit, stir in eggs. Fill apples. Bake at 350°F for 25 minutes. Makes four apples.
