Even if you’re extra careful around sharp objects, accidents can still happen. They can happen when you’re chopping onions, slicing veggies on the mandoline, grating a whole block of cheddar, peeling a pound of carrots — you get the idea. Here’s a PSA for all those in possession of knives, mandolines, cheese graters, vegetable peelers, and the like: Don’t become another kitchen injury statistic!

If you’re at all accident prone, we recommend these highly-rated protective kitchen gloves. Amazon shoppers are so obsessed with these gloves, they’re a bestseller on the site and more than 9,300 reviewers gave them 5 stars.

Ambidextrous pairs are available for purchase in size small through extra-large. They’re made of “food safe, ultra high molecular weight polyethylene, glass fibre, and Spandex,” and are noticeably less bulky compared to other cut-resistant kitchen gloves on the market. We usually note when things are dishwasher safe, but in this specific case, these are washing machine safe (woot!). Note: These gloves are cut resistant but not necessarily cut proof.

Let’s take a look to see what some of those Amazon shoppers had to say.

“I lopped off the end of my thumb last week while cutting sweet potatoes. After regaining consciousness I purchased a pair of these NoCry cut resistance gloves and couldn’t be happier.”

“The gloves gave my fifteen year-old grandson the added confidence to shuck oysters for the first time. He’s been eating raw oysters for years and loving them, so I ordered some fresh raw oysters from Massachusetts (we live in Houston) for his fifteenth birthday. Up until now he had only dealt with oysters already opened like you get in restaurants. He took to it like a champ after his father showed him how. Thanks NoCry! (After opening three dozen, they will definitely need a good washing!)”

“I bought the gloves because I had two nasty cuts in quick succession from a cheese grater. Anyone who has had injuries to their fingers know how difficult it is to continue to do every day activities and meal preparation, while still protecting your wound. I received the gloves quickly after my order and pressed them into use immediately that evening. I am most impressed. My fingers/hands were protected from my very sharp grater and knife while I prepared dinner. I bought two pairs, one to keep and one to give as a gift. I am now going to buy a third pair in a larger size for a friend who also likes to cook, but, suffers from occasional run-ins with mandolines, graters, and knives. Great product!”
