Crystal Pepsi Is Back and You Can Win a Pack of the Nostalgic Classic
As the self-proclaimed Queen of Nostalgic Things, I feel it is my obligation to keep you all updated on all the things that probably brought you some sort of joy during your childhood. From Little Debbie’s Christmas Tree Cakes Ice Cream to Oreo-flavored wine, I’m a firm believer that there’s always something new to discover in something old. In this case, however, Pepsi is reviving an old favorite just the way it is and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
If you don’t happen to be a huge ’90s fanatic, you may not remember when Pepsi released their first color- and caffeine-free soda by the name of Crystal Pepsi in 1992. Unfortunately though, it was short-lived as it was pulled from shelves in 1994 — which could be why you may not remember its debut 30 years ago. After a petition went viral in the mid-2010s, however, Crystal Pepsi made its way back into grocery stores in 20-ounce bottles, but only for a limited time.
Since 2022 marks the 30th anniversary of the beloved Crystal Pepsi brand, fans who have been longing for the return of the nostalgic sip may finally be able to get their wish. And the best part about it is, you can get it for free. Yes, you read that right. You can nab yourself a 6-pack of Crystal Pepsi … for free. But of course, it doesn’t come without a little work.
In honor of the milestone, PepsiCo is giving 300 customers the opportunity to gulp down an ice-cold Crystal Pepsi one more time and all you have to do is dig through your old photos. The sweepstakes, which is currently running until 9 a.m. on January 6, requires those who want to get their hands on a bottle from the exclusive batch to post a photo of themselves in the ’90s using the hashtags #ShowUsYour90s and #PepsiSweepstakes on Twitter. That’s it. Nothing more, nothing less.
“Since 2022 marks the 30-year anniversary of Crystal Pepsi, we wanted to do something extra special to celebrate and reward the passionate fans who have been clamoring online for its return,” Todd Kaplan, Vice President of Marketing at Pepsi said. “And what better way to kick off 2022 than to throw it back to 1992 in order to get their hands on this highly limited-edition batch of Crystal Pepsi.”
So get ready to dust off those (possibly) embarrassing photos of you in those Girbaud jeans, Soda shoes, and frosted tips. The ’90s are coming back — even if it’s only for a limited time.
