This year, romantic nights out have become casual nights in. It can be easy to fall into a routine rut, but don’t let the great indoors put out your spark! Surprise your special someone with a romantic restaurant-quality dining experience at home, full of good times and great tastes. Our friends at Birds Eye® have helped us come up with these five easy ways for you to create a memorable date night in your own kitchen.

1. Recreate the ambiance of your favorite restaurant

You don’t need reservations — just a little imagination. Channel an eatery that holds a special memory for you by making paper menus or decorations, or trying your hand at one of their signature appetizers. You might not be able to go to the restaurant where you had your first date or your wedding reception, but you can capture some of the magic at home.

2. Minimize dinner prep

Nobody wants to spend all of date night chopping and mixing. Cook smarter, not harder, by pairing your main dish with Birds Eye® Cheddar Broccoli Bake as your dinner side. This cheesy, decadent veggie dish is ready in minutes, so you’ll be laughing together and reaching for second helpings before you can say “clean and peel.”

3. Slow roast a salmon

Save straightforward chicken for everyday dinners. Date night requires a simple yet sophisticated upgrade in the form of slow-roasted salmon. It’s a main dish that’s ready in just 20 minutes and leaves you plenty satisfied, but not so full that you’re sleepy.

4. Toast with a fine wine or mocktail

What elevates a casual dinner at home to a memorable event for two? Small, intentional moments, like a toast celebrating all you’ve achieved (or just survived) together this year. Cheers!

5. Share your favorite dessert

You might surprise your date with dessert from your favorite date night destination, throw on aprons for a bake-off, or skip straight to whispering sweet nothings. However you end the night, it’s sure to be sweet.
