The last couple days there has been a lot of rumbling regarding Palcohol, a powdered alcohol that was initially thought to have been approved by the U.S government. But apparently the approval was given in error due to labeling discrepancies, so it doesn't look like the powder will hit stores as soon as expected. While this isn't the first time that powdered alcohol has been discussed, it seems closer to fruition than before.
Powdered alcohol is exactly what is sounds like –– a powdered substance you can add to water that will magically make you the booze or cocktail of your choosing. Mark Philips, the brainchild behind Palcohol explains on his website that he is an "active guy" that simply wants a drink after long days of biking or hiking, but doesn't want to lug a bottle around. Hence the need for powdered booze.
While powdered alcohol is mostly intended for making drinks, it's likely that it could also be used for crazy cooking experiments. Would you ever try something like this?
