Costco Is Rolling Out a New Dessert Item in the Food Court, and Fans Are Going Wild
While its inventory comes and goes with seasonal items sitting sidecar to long-time favorites, not much changes on the food court menu at Costco. (We all remember CFO Richard Galanti adamantly declaring the warehouse club would never change its $1.50 hot dog and a soda combo.)
In an unusual flurry (pun intended) of excitement, however, there’s something new happening to the very limited food court menu of beloved favorite items. And it’s one that looks a lot like a McDonald’s McFlurry.
Costco’s small but mighty dessert menu complements the chain’s lineup of pizza, hot dogs, sandwiches, and salads, with members ordering soft-serve ice cream, shakes, and sundaes. (You can also order an ice cream float with vanilla soft-serve served on top of a cup of Pepsi, if desired). The new item is a variation of a blended dessert, and the fans are going wild.
Costco has been testing a cookies and cream mix-in to its popular vanilla soft serve ice cream, as well as a version that blends in a Skor bar — a chocolate-covered toffee candy bar. The new treat is rolling out in Canadian markets, with a hopeful future launch in the U.S.
The price of the new treat is — as you would expect from the cost-conscious store — just $4.99 (CAD). According to the comment section on the post that broke the news on Instagram account, @we_love_costco, fans said Costco’s Oreo ice cream is almost three times the amount of Oreo than in a DQ Blizzard and about eight times the amount of Oreo found in a McFlurry. So, if you needed a reason to pick one up (or petition for it to make its way to the States), this is absolutely it.
