I’m a Nutritionist and These Are the 7 Costco Snacks I’m Buying for Super Bowl This Year
While attending college, I worked part-time at a grocery store. In the weeks leading up to the Super Bowl, I was told that it was one of the top-grossing holidays when it came to snack foods. That fact didn’t really surprise me. Can you think of a single day that’s more centered around small bites and finger foods? I sure can’t!
I didn’t work at Costco, but I sure wish I did, because the warehouse store is pretty much the best place to shop for game-day snacks: The packages are large, the prices are low, and the crowd-pleasing options are vast. Almost too vast. And so I set out to help you narrow things down. Which brings me to this list. These are my favorite snacks to eat while watching the big game.
1. Good Foods Caramelized Onion & Gruyère Cheese Dip, $5.99 for 1.5 pounds
Good Foods is a great overall brand to check out at Costco. The company makes a variety of high-quality dips, including several plant-based options, and all of its products are non-GMO. For Super Bowl, I reach for this Caramelized Onion & Gruyère Cheese Dip. As the name suggests, it’s a cheesy onion dip, made with rich, buttery Gruyère cheese. Pair it with some chips, crackers, or crisps.
2. Sonoma Creamery Pepper Jack Cheese Crisps, $4.99 for 10 ounces
My stepdad loves these crisps. They’re made with pepper Jack cheese, so they’re a bit spicy and also super crunchy — a must for any chip at my snack table! As a bonus, they’re naturally lactose-free, which is great for sensitive stomachs like my own.
3. Outer Aisle Cauliflower Sandwich Thins, $7.99 for 14 rounds
Made with cauliflower and cage-free eggs, these sandwich thins are sure to hit the spot — even if you don’t follow a keto or gluten-free lifestyle. They’re a great base for little veggie pizzas (just add marinara, shredded cheese, some chopped veggies, and heat). You can also toast them in a toaster oven and dunk them into salsa, cheese, or dip.
4. Don Lee Farms Organic Cauliflower Bites, $8.99 for 1.25 pounds
These bites are just like little tater tots, except they’re loaded with cauliflower! (It’s the first ingredient listed.) The new variety — White Cheddar and Sunflower Seed Blend — is top-notch in the flavor department. They’re also organic and gluten-free. Serve them up with some salsa and you’ve got a fantastic Super Bowl snack!
5. CaliFlour Keto Vegetable Lasagna, $9.99 for 4 packs
If you’re in the market for more of an entrée-like snack, then this is definitely one to consider. It’s made with veggies and high-quality cheese and no artificial ingredients, added sugar, or refined flour. I like that this keto-friendly lasagna is sold in four separate packages, too, in case you’re hosting a smaller crowd.
6. La Terra Spinach and Artichoke Parmesan Dip, $5.99 for 1 lb. 15 ounces
My mother is in love with this dip. It’s phenomenal with crispy celery sticks and carrots (also sold at Costco!) or whole-wheat crackers. You can also serve it with chips or even use it as a condiment if you’re serving sandwiches. It’s rich and creamy. I also love that the tub isn’t too huge, so you can easily eat it all at a Super Bowl party and the days after before it goes bad.
7. InnoFoods Coconut Keto Clusters, $9.99 for 18 ounces
These little guys sure are tasty! Crunchy, sort of sweet, yet also savory, they’ve got a hint of spice and just enough salt to be interesting and satisfying. Plus, they’re full of healthy fats, iron, and vitamin E.
So, let’s hear it! What are your favorite Super Bowl snacks to buy at Costco?
