If you’re hoping to go to Costco and leave with a large quantity of cookies, nothing will stop you from making that a reality. On a regular basis, the store carries cases and cases of every packaged cookie imaginable, not to mention exorbitantly-sized tubs of cookie dough. And thanks to TikTok, we recently learned that there’s yet another way to bring home lots and lots of cookies — and it’s a method we’d never heard of before.

According to this Canadian Costco shopper, you can (safely) approach the bakery department and ask for a box of cookie dough. She did it! And she was then given a box filled with approximately 120 chocolate chunk cookies for $22 (Canadian dollars). From there, she stores these in the freezer, and bakes as many as she chooses to at once. Because who doesn’t want warm cookies on demand?

A scan of the comments section reveals that this is not true for all locations, but it is the case at many. “This is true mainly in Canada and select states in the U.S.,” said one commenter. Many subsequent commenters chimed in with locations where they were able to take advantage of this “cookie secret,” boasting spare freezers full of ready-to-bake cookies.

A deeper dive on Reddit confirmed this variability to be the case as well. “This varies WILDLY from location to location,” said one bakery employee. Another countered: “I can confirm, as someone who worked bakery, that this IS correct.” Others claimed that the boxes were available in the freezer section as opposed to the bakery section.

Clearly, every store is different, so it’s worth asking your specific store if this is an option that’s available to you. If you’re looking for a boatload of pre-made cookie dough, it can’t hurt to ask, right?
