Costco Members Swear This Is the One Treat You Should Always Have Handy — And It’s a Total Steal

Most people know big-box store Costco as the place that sells everything in large quantities. From giant packs of toilet paper and mouthwash to your favorite seasonal soups and deli meat, they’ve got it all. However, die-hard fans realize that Costco’s store brand, Kirkland Signature, houses an array of tasty originals. Case in point: Kirkland’s bag of chocolate chips. And thanks to a recent Reddit thread, the sweet treat is finally getting the respect it deserves.

If you haven’t had these semi-sweet morsels, you’ve been missing out. They are made with just a few simple ingredients — chocolate liquor, vanilla, sugar, and soy lecithin — and once you have a bite, your taste buds will be transported to a chocolate oasis. 

But don’t just take my word for this being your newest Costco obsession: Fans in the Reddit thread couldn’t stop raving about the chocolate treat either. “Unfortunately, we used to buy this, stick it in the fridge, and have a handful for a snack,” one user wrote. “So we had to stop that habit. They are some of the tastiest chocolate chips, though!”

In a witty reply to the original post, another user said, “They are good indeed. And it’s in the fridge right now. Maybe put it in one of those boxes with a time lock, so it only opens up one time a day, haha.” Like a can of Pringles, it seems “once you pop, you can’t stop.”

Whether you like them straight out of the fridge, on top of your favorite nut butter, or in a chocolate chip cookie recipe, you’re only limited by your imagination. And with an average of 4.5 pounds per bag, the $14.99 price tag is essentially a steal, given most name-brand bags are only 12 ounces. 

According to other Reddit users, there’s actually a white bag that you should be aware of, too. “I prefer the white bag, but these are good too!” one commenter said. While others were left confused by the reference, another user co-signed the find, stating: “Agree! White bag is superior. In years past, my warehouse carried the white bag seasonally but hasn’t for at least 2 years now. The Business Center always has them, though. I go once a year or so just for the chocolate chips.”
