Is Costco Open on New Year’s Day?

For so many of us, celebrating the new year is filled with the promise of a fresh start and a new opportunity to achieve personal, professional, and health-related goals. So, what better way to ring in the new year than with a trip to everybody’s favorite big-box retailer? Before you head to Costco on New Year’s Day, you’ll want to be sure you know the store’s holiday hours or risk your year getting off to a disappointing start.

New Year’s Eve is a holiday filled with parties, music, and gathering around the television to watch the ball drop in Times Square. This year, New Year’s Eve falls on a Sunday, so New Year’s Day will be celebrated on Monday, January 1. If your New Year’s Day plans include a trip to Costco, you’ll want to press pause before grabbing your car keys. Costco only closes on seven days throughout the year, and one of them is New Year’s Day. Though Costco stores will be closed on Monday, January 1, they will be open for business as usual on Sunday, December 31 and will reopen on Tuesday, January 2.
