Costco’s Brand-New Fall Bakery Treat Has Shoppers Buying 3 Packs at a Time
Fall is the season of cinnamon, maple, caramel, and, of course, pumpkin spice. We get so used to pumpkin spice everything, though, that sometimes it’s easy to forget that apples have been attached to the harvest season for a lot longer. Some of us will always have a special place in our hearts for this ingredient in our autumn dishes and desserts.
Luckily for us apple-lovers, Costco just launched a brand-new dessert for the season that incorporates this delicious fruit.
Costco’s new Caramel Apple Mini Cakes follow in the tradition of other classic Costco bakery finds, such as the popular mini lemon cakes, but with apple filling, caramel cake, sweet condensed milk icing, and a caramel drizzle. It’s pretty much fall perfection in one dessert.
I was not familiar with condensed milk icing, but I hear from my baker friends that it’s a sweet, indulgent delight that rivals buttercream. This level of decadence is a sure sign the holiday season is approaching!
The seasonal cakes were first spotted by Instagram account @CostcoHotFinds, whose caption read, “Caramel Apple Mini Cakes at Costco!!! These are brand new!! Incredibly soft and the frosting is amazing!!” That’s a rave review if I’ve ever read one! If you’re looking for the best way to eat them, one commenter chimed in, “I feel like this would be amazing warmed up for a few seconds in the microwave.”
As these seasonal items don’t often stick around for long, it might be time to rush out to stock up on this. While you’re at the bakery, don’t forget to check out Costco’s fan-favorite danishes that just made a surprise return, or pop down to Aldi for their latest fall dessert.
