Costco Confirmed That a Popular Food Court Item Is Returning, and Fans Are Losing It
There are a few telltale signs that life is returning back to normalcy post-pandemic, and not all of them are good. Highway traffic is increasing, employees are returning to the office, and social distancing now seems to be a thing of the past. There is one sign of things returning to normal that is sure to excite many shoppers, though: Diced onions are finally making their way back to the food court at Costco.
As the pandemic put an end to many food serving practices, lovers of Costco’s famous $1.50 hot dog and soda combo were dismayed when the diced onion dispensers were removed from stores as a measure to combat COVID. So much so, that one shopper’s hilarious tweet went viral after being shared to the sub-threads on Reddit.
“This pandemic won’t be over until Costco puts the onions back out for the hot dogs,” the Tweet read.
Simon was not the only shopper to feel this way, though. Other shoppers also began to fire off comments about missing their favorite hot dog toppings. But recently, rumors about the return of the beloved onions have begun to spread across the internet. They’ve spread so far that they’ve reached the ears of Costco’s reps, and in a May 1 statement they announced, “Yes we can confirm that Diced Onions are returning soon.”
As for the exact date of when the onions will hit Costco’s food courts, we aren’t sure. But for you Simon Hollands of the world, you can rest assured that you’ll be able to indulge in the pre-pandemic accoutrement in the near future.
