Costco Members Are Getting a New Perk — But Only If You Shop Online

If you ask anyone who shops at Costco to tell you why they decided to become members, I’m sure they can list out a number of reasons. From having access to delicious pizza to getting bulk food for a house full of hungry teens at a discounted price, there’s really no wrong reason to invest in a Costco membership — even if you happen to be a single person.

Now, to sweeten the deal even further, the warehouse giant is adding a new perk — but it’s only good if you’re shopping online.

First launched in 2017, the Costco Next program made its way to shoppers by offering a select number of brands online at even more of a discount than what you’d find in stores. With an ambition to compete with big online retailers like (you guessed it) Amazon, the budget warehouse is now expanding their assortment of products to get shoppers to spend more money virtually.

So, what can you expect if you choose to shop through the Costco Next platform? According the brand’s website, when you shop Costco Next, “you’ll enjoy a wide range of choices, including high-end brands, exclusive and unique items, and popular products that are often in limited supply.” It also goes on to state that handcrafted wood furniture, organic skincare, and the latest electronics — like Anker phone chargers — will be yours for the taking at more than 20 percent off, too. Invicta watches, weatherproof outdoor clothing, high-priced dinnerware sets like those from Mikasa will also be the type of products you can expect to nab at a discounted rate.

By amping up their online sales — which have taken a steep tumble after seeing a huge surge in 2020 — Costco hopes that it will increase the value of their $60 membership and encourage more people to renew when that time of year comes around. And, just like the actual warehouse locations, you can expect to see Costco Next frequently adding new brands to offer continuous options for shoppers.

The Costco Next program is currently available online, so you can get shopping right away. To lock in your savings for each purchase, however, don’t forget to plug in your membership number where indicated. But don’t look to activate any discount codes or promotions when shopping through Costco Next though. Apparently the saving are so good, you won’t even need them.
