The $11 Costco Buy That Will Make Dinner So Much Better
Pull-apart cheesy bread has been a Pinterest sensation for years. It’s one of the most visually appealing, seemingly simple things that the internet has ever hit upon. And now Costco is making it even easier — they’re selling a pre-made version from the French brand Tipiak.
The pain au fromage (it sounds fancier in French!) comes in a double pack from the refrigerated section for $10.79, which gets you nearly a pound-and-a-half of bread laden with three types of cheese: Brie, Emmental, and mozzarella. It’s nearly half cheese, too, boasts the package. To cook the bread, you simply slide it into a 410-degree oven for about 15 minutes, then let it sit a few more minutes before digging in. (Those extra minutes are important if you don’t want to blister the roof of your mouth off with molten cheese.)
The new cheesy bread would be an excellent addition to an easy dinner. Pick up a rotisserie chicken from Costco while you’re there, make a quick salad or pick up a salad kit, put the pain au fromage (sorry, I can’t help myself!) in the oven, and you’ve got a delicious meal on the cheap.
If you don’t live near a Costco — we all can’t be so lucky, right? — then you should know that pull-apart cheesy bread is actually really easy to make at home. Maybe not as easy as just putting something in the oven, but pretty close. You just need some bread, a little bit of cheese, and butter. You can toss in a few customizations if you’re feeling fancy, like cooked bacon, chopped chives, or red pepper flakes. Mon dieu!
