Grilling season is finally in full swing. Is there anything better than firing up the coals, beer in hand, and cooking a delicious dinner? According to many, yes: heating up a griddle instead. Sure, gas and charcoal grills might still dominate people’s backyards, but the new outdoor cooking appliance that’s getting all the attention is the Blackstone Griddle. Search on TikTok and you’ll find thousands of videos, many with millions of views, of people showing off their Blackstones. The videos showcase recipes (a go-to easy weeknight dinner, nachos to feed a crowd), cleaning hacks, and beginner tips. The flat-top griddle has become so much more than just another grill — it’s a lifestyle for people.

Why all the hype? The large flat cooktop is made of cold-rolled steel, a material that distributes heat evenly (say goodbye to grill hot spots!) and is super versatile, and has several burners, so you can easily control the temperature of each area. You can grill the basics like smash burgers and hot dogs (have you tried our staff favorite A&H All-Beef Kosher ones yet?), and without grates you can also cook pizza, stir-fry vegetables, even scramble eggs. 

While the products have surged in popularity over the last few years, they’ve never been available at Costco until now. Reportedly seen at some locations retailing for $399, the version of the Blackstone at the big-box retailer features a 768-square-inch cooking surface, a large hood, four burner controls, side shelves that fold, plus hooks for utensils. Each model of the griddle also has a grease management system for seamless cleanup.

Keep in mind that Blackstone makes a handful of models, so when doing your research, you’ll want to compare all the different features. At the moment, it seems that Walmart is listing a similar version for $378, with retailers like Ace Hardware and Dicks Sporting Goods offering options that range from $410 and $450.
