If you have a Cosori air fryer, you’ll want to rethink those crispy sweet potato fries tonight. As of February 23, 2023, more than two million Cosori air fryers sold across the United States, Canada, and Mexico have been recalled, and shoppers are being told to stop using their Cosori air fryers immediately.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) cited “a wire connection in the air fryers can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards.” This is specifically the result of a closed-crimp connector within the air fryer, and has resulted in more than 200 reports of the air fryers catching fire, burning, melting, overheating, and smoking. Ten of these reports included minor burn injuries, while 23 included minor property damage.

A statement from the brand about the recall reads: “All of our products are rigorously and routinely tested for consumer safety and are in full compliance with established industry standards. COSORI is committed to the safety of those who use and love our products, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.”

All the models in the recall have the Cosori brand name on the front, and the specific model numbers impacted are: CP158-AF, CP158-AF-R19, CP158-AF-RXW, CP158-AF-RXR, CAF-P581-BUSR, CAF-P581-AUSR, CAF-P581-RUSR, CP137-AF, CP137-AF-RXB, CP137-AF-RXR, CP137-AF-RXW, CS158-AF, CS158-AF-RXB, CS158-AF-R19, CAF-P581S-BUSR, CAF-P581S-RUSR, CAF-P581S-AUSR, CO137-AF, CO158-AF, CO158-AF-RXB, CP258-AF. You’ll find the model number printed on the bottom label of each air fryer and on the accompanying user manual. According to the U.S. CPSC, “The units are size 3.7 and 5.8 qt. and were sold in black, gray, white, blue or red colors.”

For shoppers who have a recalled model, stop using the air fryer immediately. You won’t be out of an air fryer for long, however. Cosori has offered to give shoppers a free, updated replacement air fryer or another Cosori product when they register their recalled product at recall.cosori.com.
