Cookware Made In the USA

These days it can be hard to find anything made in the USA, but a number of big cookware manufacturers have remained stateside. CHOW recently posted a list, and we have a couple to add, plus some online resources for finding more.

CHOW's Joyce Slaton writes, "It seems like every time a favorite brand of kitchen appliance or tool starts manufacturing its goods in China, quality slips .... One oft-bandied-about solution to such problems is buying heavy old cookware in thrift stores and used kitchen shops. Another is supporting businesses that still do their manufacturing in the U.S."

Other reasons for buying American may include supporting local economies and higher human rights and environmental standards.

Manufacturers on CHOW's list include All-Clad, Anchor-Hocking, Lenox, Lodge, Nordic Ware, and Pyrex. However, in some cases only certain products are made in the USA, so check the CHOW post for more details and links:

To their list, we'd also add American Culinary, BlueStar, and Calphalon (certain products). A couple of helpful websites for finding Made in USA products include Still Made in and Find US In all cases, we suggest reading the fine print and/or contacting the manufacturer directly to get the full details about a product.
